Tri-County area awarded grant to support a Crisis Stabilization Project
Snow Hill, MD – The Worcester County Health Department, in conjunction with Wicomico and Somerset County Health Departments, has received grant funding from the Opioid Operational Command Center, in partnership with the Maryland Emergency Management Agency. This $532,109 award supports the Crisis Stabilization Project.
The Crisis Stabilization Project is a tri-county effort between Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset Health Departments. The health departments are committed to providing prevention and education as well as treatment and recovery resources and services to the counties of the Lower Eastern Shore. The Lower Eastern Shore has been significantly impacted by the opioid epidemic and there is a critical need for crisis and treatment beds in the jurisdiction. The funding awarded by the project will benefit individuals seeking urgent help for substance-use disorders. These individuals will receive access to a safe, drug and alcohol-free environment, along with treatment and detox services.
Hudson Health Services will provide a residential crisis house for individuals referred through Worcester and Wicomico Safe Stations, as well as county Peer Support Specialists. Hudson Health offers treatment to patients with co-occurring medical, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
