HEALTH DEPARTMENT VACCINATION CLINICS
EQUITABLE VACCINE ACCESS IN WICOMICO COUNTY
(March 12, 2021, Salisbury, MD) Although supplies remain limited, the Wicomico County Health Department (WiCHD) strives to provide equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine. On March 2nd, WiCHD held a 65 years and older vaccination clinic at St James AME Zion Church of Salisbury. At this event, 161 eligible individuals received their first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and were scheduled for their second dose at a follow-up clinic.
Continuing with equitable efforts, WiCHD is also working with First Baptist Church in Salisbury to provide a 65+ vaccination clinic to eligible individuals. In addition to that clinic, WiCHD continues to compile possible locations for mobile vaccination clinics in order to provide equitable access to minority and vulnerable populations. Our mission is to serve all members of our community and to vaccinate as many as possible.
Since the week of December 21st, the Wicomico County Health Department (WiCHD) has held forty-four vaccination clinics for those individuals listed in Phase 1A, 1B and 1C (65+ ONLY). Throughout these clinics, WiCHD administered the first doses and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to 12,677 people. Of those vaccinations, 1,716 were administered this week.
Vaccination efforts continue to prioritize the individuals in 1B and individuals 65+ years within Phase 1C ONLY. Please email [email protected] and include your age or what phase you fall in and how you qualify for that phase. The Health Department will email you a link to make an appointment when appointments are available (DO NOT SHARE THE LINK). The Wicomico County Health Dept will start vaccination clinics at the Center at Salisbury mall between HomeGoods and Burlington (the Old Tuesday Morning Location) starting Monday March 15th.
The Maryland Dept. of Health (MDH) Mass Vaccination Clinic will start Thursday March 18, 2021 at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center to register call 1-855-634-6829 or visit https://covidlink.maryland.gov/content/vaccine/
