WICOMICO GOES PURPLE ENDS SEPTEMBER WITH INSPIRATION AND HOPE
(September 23, 2022, Salisbury, MD) Wicomico Goes Purple, whose mission is to start conversations around the dangers of substance misuse and support those on their journeys through substance misuse, will partner to hold two events to close out National Recovery Month. “Tony Hoffman Speaks” and “A Night of Hope” will conclude the Go Purple events for the month while providing hope and inspiration to the community.
Tony Hoffman will share his story on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 5:00pm at Wor-Wic Community College in the Guerreri Hall auditorium. Tony is an author and one of the most requested mental health & substance use speakers in the country, traveling over 200 days a year to share his inspiring story with various audiences. Tony will share how he went from prison to the Olympics, while touching on important topics such as mental health, trauma and substance misuse. Light refreshments will be served and this event is open to the community. No registration required. It is truly a night that you will not want to miss.
Friday, September 30, 2022 at 6:00pm the faith-based community will hold “A Night of Hope” at the Salisbury City Park. The program will include music, prayer and scripture. Testimonials from those whose lives have been impacted by addiction will be shared that evening and the Night of Hope will conclude with a candlelight vigil. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit resource tables of local area agencies that offer prevention, treatment and recovery support. In the case of inclement weather, the event will move to St Peter’s Episcopal Church, 115 St. Peter’s St. (off the Downtown Plaza).
