TRUE YOU MARYLAND OFFERS ADOLESCENT HEALTH FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
(January 27, 2022, Salisbury, MD) The Wicomico County Health Department is requesting sealed proposals from any Wicomico County community groups, including civic organizations, youth groups, counseling centers, human service organizations, foster care agencies, churches, non-profit agencies who are interested in implementing the True You Maryland program with their high school-aged youth. Funded projects are intended to implement the evidence-based program model Positive Prevention Plus. This program will provide youth with information about healthy relationships, pregnancy prevention, HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STI’s), communication and peer pressure.
Adolescents in Wicomico County experience higher than average rates of sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy. True You Maryland aims to help adolescents reach their optimal health by giving them the skills to prevent sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy, develop healthy relationships, and set life goals. True You Maryland invites youth-serving organizations to participate by conducting a comprehensive, evidence-based sexuality education program with high school-aged youth.
“Adolescents receive messages about sexuality from sources, such as media and peers, that often include myths and misinformation. Youth leaders can cut through the noise and become trusted sources of accurate information! We can empower young people with the skills they need to protect their health, form healthy relationships, and thrive”, says Alicia Miller, True You Maryland program coordinator.
Proposal packages with detailed specifications and additional information may be picked up at the Hurdle Building, 108 E. Main Street Salisbury, Maryland. Proposal packages can be mailed or hand-delivered. Proposal packages must be received no later than Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. EST
