                                                                Walk Maryland Day

(October 4, 2019, Salisbury, MD) Wednesday, October 2nd was the 5th Annual Walk Maryland Day. Wicomico’s walk was held in downtown Salisbury. Despite the record heat, a number of individuals and employees from local businesses participated, including City of Salisbury; Maryland Department of General Services, Maryland Department of Planning, Wicomico County Government, Wicomico County Health Department and Wicomico County Department of Social Services. Some employees from the Tri-County Council of the Lower Eastern Shore walked on their new path on the campus of the Multi-Purpose Center on Tri-County Way in Salisbury.

Walk Maryland Day is annual event to celebrate Maryland’s official state exercise, walking. It also promotes awareness about regular walking year-round for physical activity and improved health.

Initiated by the Maryland Department of Health, the Wicomico event was sponsored locally by the Wicomico County Health Department and WalkWicomico, a coalition dedicated to encouraging walking in Wicomico County.
