BOOSTING BODY IMAGE WEBINAR

FOR NATIONAL ADOLESCENT HEALTH MONTH

(May 17, 2023, Salisbury, MD) National Adolescent Health Month is observed in May of each year. Led by the HHS Office of Population Affairs, this observance emphasizes the importance of building on young people’s strengths, encouraging meaningful youth engagement in adolescent health activities, and highlighting key topics in adolescent health.

True You Maryland, an adolescent health program at the Wicomico County Health Department, is highlighting body image this month. Body image is the combination of the thoughts and feelings that people have about their bodies. Positive body image leads to higher self-esteem and self-acceptance. Unfortunately, teens face many factors that can damage their body image, such as peer pressure and comparing themselves to idealized images on social media.

On Tuesday, May 30th, 2023, True You Maryland will be hosting a webinar called Boosting Body Image: How Parents and Caregivers Can Support Teens with body-positivity expert Zoë Bisbing, MSW, LCSW. Parents, guardians, and youth-serving adults are welcome to join to learn strategies to improve teens’ body image and to create body-positive environments.

To register for the webinar, contact Alicia Miller at (443) 614-7726 or [email protected] or click the link to register: https://forms.gle/pRuRZbWy71LgHXMN7.
