The Tri-County Health Planning Board exists to improve the health of Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester county residents through increased accessibility, continuity, and availability of quality cost-effective health services. The Planning Board has been providing input into the development of local (lower shore) and statewide health planning documents since 1993. As a part of state wide health improvement process, the planning board developed a Tri-County Health Improvement Plan (T-CHIP) in 2009 which identified two top health priorities common to all three counties. The Board usually meets the last Wednesday of the months of January, May and October rotating between the three counties. For information contact Cara Rozaieski at 410-219-7483.

The goal of the State Health Improvement Process (SHIP) is to provide a framework for accountability, local action, and public engagement in order to advance the health of Maryland residents. The SHIP measures for improvement are aligned with the Healthy People (HP) 2020 objectives established by the Department of Health and Human Services.
