Rutherford, the Calvert County Health Department, and rural health advocates, will celebrate Rural Health Day on Friday, November 17, 2017. National Rural Health Day was established in 2011 by the National Organizations of State Office of Rural Health to “Celebrate the Power of Rural” by honoring the selfless, community-minded, spirit that prevails in rural America.

The Department of Health has identified similar challenges around rural health in Western Maryland, the Eastern Shore, and Southern Maryland. A Rural Health Project Charter has been created to address these needs and to improve quality and access to health care in rural Maryland.
