Overdose Awareness Day Event in Wicomico County

(August 30, 2017, Salisbury, MD) Overdose Awareness Day will be observed at Riverwalk Park in Downtown Salisbury on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This international day offers the opportunity to remember those who lost their battle with the disease of addiction and for their friends and family to publicly mourn without shame or disgrace. Activities will include a remembrance walk, guest speakers, music, educational materials, giveaways, and rock painting. The growing number of fatalities across the nation means that our entire community is affected by overdoses. Overdose Awareness Day helps community members understand that both legal and illicit drugs can be dangerous, that no one is immune to overdose, and that stigmatizing people with substance use disorder or their families can result in people not getting help. This Overdose Awareness Day event is free and open to the public. For additional information about the event in Salisbury, call 410-543-6981 or visit the Wicomico County Health Department at www.wicomicohealth.org or on Facebook.
